Since 1998, the Social Enterprise Alliance (SEA), an organization of 1000+ members and 16 regional chapters, has been at the forefront of the social enterprise sector. With origins as the first conference for social entrepreneurs, SEA is now in its 18th year of advancing the development of social enterprise in the U.S. As an MBA student at Kellogg School of Management in the early 1990s, Jim Schorr was inspired by emerging “triple bottom line” businesses, and helped launch Net Impact, an organization that has since inspired a generation of students at 200+ universities around the world. In the 2000s, Schorr was CEO of Juma Ventures, an organization widely admired as one of the social enterprise pioneers in the U.S. Schorr has taught at UC Berkeley and Vanderbilt University since 2007 and has served as a founding board member of Social Enterprise World Forum.
